Shades of Brown

After a long, hot summer, autumn has finally arrived in Slovakia.

Soft colours:

Herons take to the fields:

The usual raptors are around. Buzzards:

As the leaves start to fall, it gets easier to see the woodpeckers and long-tailed tits:

Our most recent discovery was the tiny little grebe: “can be mistaken for duckling … prominent ‘powder-puff’ rear end”, says our field guide.littlegrebe

    You do have really good wild life!
    But we did see a very beautiful fox walking up the road next to us, the other night.
